Ah yes, finally Spring! What's up everyone, it's Gonzo & Nate. Been sorta MIA latey, soooo much goin on! DJing clubs, proms, air shifts and 3 syndicated mixshows heard all over the U.S. is something we've been doing during our sleep latey!
Well, since Spring is here, let's go over some great new music! First off, we've recieved a ton of emails and in some cases, text messages everytime we spin the remix of Train's "Hey Soul Sister". When I first heard the song in original form, I thought to myself, "Wow, Train has a new song.. been awhile." It's quite a catchy tune and at this point, is a top 5 smash. The Karmatronic Club Mix is the version featured in our shows and is rockin' on dancefloors as well. Next up, La Roux with "Bulletproof". A tune we've had for quite awhile now & have been workin it in the mix as well. Scoring big feedback with the ladies both in the clubs and on radio. Simple math; catchy hook & lyrics, infectious groove..win. Some more pop tunes blowing up our request lines and emails in the pop world include, Ke$ha's 3rd single "Your Love Is My Drug", Sean Kingston & Justin Bieber "Eeenie Meenie", Iyaz "Solo", & of course, Taio Cruz featuring Ludacris with "Break Your Heart" which features a ton of great remixes to fit any DJ's set.
Let's talk some Hip Hop & R&B tunes. Ludacris hit big with "How Low" as his 1st single off the new album "Battle Of The Sexes". The 2nd, which features Nicki Minaj is a monster! "My Chick Bad" is gonna make some noise straight through summer.. your sister likes it! Rihanna's 3rd release, "Rude Boy" is already a top 5 on multiple charts. From radio to club DJ's; she has a serious hit here. With her edgy vocal style, solid production, right down to the remixes both in Dancehall & House music form, this hit is everywhere! Up next, Jamie Foxx had a massive hit with "Blame It" in 2009. Fresh for 2010 comes "Winner". With a beat that is sure to motivate feet, Justin Timberlake on the hook & T.I. spittin' a tight flow; this is no doubt a winner for sure! Our boy Usher is aleady enjoying some major success with his latest hits, "Hey Daddy" & Lil' Freak but wait, here comes another! "OMG", with the help of Will I Am is a freakin party monster of a track and already features some insane energized remixes! From the break beat of the original to the speaker poppin' "Almighty Remix", Usher's gonna be hangin around all summer, Some other personal picks we're enjoying include, The Dream with "Love King" & a new track from Lloyd Banks "Beamer, Benz or Bentley".
On the Dance Music, Remix tip, here is some candy for your ears & energy drinks for your feet. After being in Miami for a week and being exposed to what it's like to have Insomnia by choice with thousands of other party people from all over the world at the Winter Music Conference, a massive amount of sick beats are already invading clubs and mixshows as the warm weather makes it's way in. Your radio station and local dancefloors are going to be rockin' the entire summer, trust us!! :) Legendary House producer M.K. teams up with Pitbull to bring you another catchy party track and Mr. 305 doesn't disappoint. "Alright" is Caribbean style party tune with a catchy hook, smooth vocal delivery and of course speaker poppin' Deep House basslines to rock the party. Catch it in our shows!! David Guetta, who took home quite a few awards at the International Dance Music Awards show in Miami works "Getting Over" as his latest release off the high energy album "One Love". Vocalist Chris Willis (Love Is Gone) is joined along with Fergie & LMFAO as a newer version. We tested this jam out in Hip Hop clubs, Pop / Mainstream clubs and high energy House clubs...WIN! Another quick note based on some emails following our shows, Deadmau5's "Ghost N Stuff" & the "Fonzerelli Electro Remix" of Adam Lambert's "Whadaya Want From Me" are workin' quite well for people's ear so we will keep rockin' them!
Again, sorry for our absence. We've been in Miami, New York and Vegas partying with The Jumpsmokerz, Mary J Blige, Kelis, Alexis Jordan, Diddy & many others from what we were told after the the parties ended haha. Workin' 14 hours of mixes all week, clubs, air shifts and even some proms! .. it's been a rough two months! :) Exciting things are in the works for the mixshows this coming summer, stay tuned guys!
Leaving you with some personal picks making noise in the shows and clubs to check out. Estelle featuring Kardinal Offishall "Freak" is a booty rocker..trust us & request it at your favorite dance spot. Alexis Jordan "Happiness" is a beautiful uptempo Dance track perfect for the summer to drive around with the top back and windows open. She was recently signed by Jay-Z to the Stargate label and is ready to make some serious noise! We had the chance to speak to the 18 year old up and coming singer about her future plans with her music and trust us when we say you will be blown away by her voice! Listen for "Happiness" in the mix this weekend. Last up, you may recall a song in 2009 titled "Now I'm That Chick" (or with the "B" word, kinda like "Sexy Chick" haha thanks Janet..kidding) Livvi Franc was the voice behind the groove. Her latest, "Automatik" is an extremely catchy Dance / Pop tune we've featured in the mix for a few weeks now with some emails inquiring.
Yes, Spring is well under way with some of the above & we're sure summer is gonna be another exciting one!
Enjoy your weekend!
-Gonzo & Nate
Looks like 6 more weeks of winter & cold but we will help you deal with! Tons of great new music & remixes to listen for this weekend in the mix!
Ke$ha still continues to dominate the charts with "Tik Tok" but also now has her 2nd single released with a little help from 3OH3!. Check out "Blah Blah Blah" & you will end up with this catchy tune in your head all day! :) A new Dancehall style remix of Beyonce & Alicia Key's "Put It In A Love Song" is in our rotation & also dance floor approved! I'm still in awe over Beyonce's perfomance at the Grammy's last week when she performed "If I Were A Boy" & then broke into Alanis' "You Outta Know". Did You happen to catch the look on Jay-Z's face after it? Even he was blown away!
Rihanna's 3rd single, "Rude Boy" off her new album, Rated R is impacting. Leave it to us to mix it up with some hypeness & keep things exciting.."Hands Up!" Black Eyed Peas track "Imma Be" is fire on the dance floor the way it transitions faster to keep you movin'. I'm pretty pumped to get to see the Black Eyed Peas in concert in a few weeks as well as check out Will I AM DJ at a club after the show. I get inspired to head right over to the turntables & just mix until the sun comes up!
On to some remixes. Selena Gomez's track "Naturally" is blowin up with 4 solid club mixes that we will be sure to serve up Spin*Cycle style each week for you to check out. Taio Cruz "Break Your Heart" wins my heart with club mixes that bring out the energy & smooth delivery of Taio's vocals all while beating the dance floor to death with people jumping up & down! David Guetta's follow up to "Sexy Chick" which features Estelle on vocals is heating up. Nate & I went through the various remixes on the promo CD & found a nice peak hour dance floor anthem! Check out the "Avicci Remix" & turn it up!
Our pick up the week is a new single from electronic musical genius BT. "Suddenly" from the new album "Suddenly" features 5 solid remixes as well as the original version. Nate & I are set to interview him this coming monday so if you guys have any questions you'd like to know, feel free to shoot us an email!
Stay warm pplz!
